Our Story
Volga Linen is a luxury British brand producing heirloom-quality, pure linen for the bedroom, table, and bathroom, as well as fabric by the metre. Founded 30 years ago by Theresa Tollemache, who sought to revive the rich tradition of Eastern European artisanal linen-making, the brand is now owned and creatively directed by Claire Fouché. Volga continues to honour its heritage with a focus on authenticity, refined design, and lasting quality.
Our naturally sustainable linens have been woven by skilled artisans in central and eastern Europe, using time-honoured techniques that celebrate the integrity of the fibre and the cultural heritage behind it. At the heart of our collection is our warm ivory white pure bed linen, with traditional finishes such as hemstitching and diamond stitching, lending quiet refinement and timeless appeal.

Our fabric collection includes richly hued plains, refreshing stripes, and folkloric prints inspired by a 300-year-old archive of engraved wood blocks. Among these, our Flax & Field Flower range is a celebration of the Flax Flower and wild flora, delicately rendered in timeless, nature-inspired tones.
Volga’s hospitality collection brings this same level of craft and detail to luxury hotels, private yachts, and residences. We collaborate with designers and hoteliers to create bespoke linen collections tailored to their needs.
At Volga Linen, we honour the history of linen while embracing its endless creative potential. Natural, versatile, and deeply rooted in tradition, our fabrics are made to be used, cherished, and passed on.

Sustainability
Our range of fabrics and products are made from 100% pure linen. Linen is made from flax – a fast-growing, renewable resource that is widely recognised as one of the most sustainable raw materials in the world.
A field of flax requires no additional irrigation – it gains all the moisture it needs from natural rainfall. It is also an incredibly hardy crop, requiring significantly fewer pesticides and fertilisers than cotton. Flax fibres are separated from the stem via a natural process known as “dew retting,” which requires no additional chemicals, energy, or water and allows nutrients to return to the soil through the decomposition of the unused bark of the stem.
Once harvested, virtually nothing is wasted: all parts of the plant are used across various industries, from cosmetics to animal feed. At the end of its life-span, linen is fully biodegradable.
There are human benefits to living alongside linen, too. It is intrinsically hypoallergenic and antibacterial, making it ideal for sensitive skin. It is fast-drying, highly breathable, and naturally thermo-regulating—keeping you cool in summer and warm in winter.

Certified Sustainability
Volga Linen works exclusively with trusted European producers whose practices meet the highest environmental and ethical standards. Our fabrics are woven from European Flax®-certified fibres, which guarantee traceability from seed to finished fabric and ensure zero irrigation, no GMOs, and low-impact farming methods. Many of our products are also OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified, meaning they are tested for and free from harmful substances, ensuring safety for both people and planet.
Our Commitment
At Volga, we are committed to treading as lightly as possible on our planet. We continually review and refine our practices—from the dyes and finishes we use, to how our fabrics are farmed, woven, packaged, and transported. Every decision is guided by our belief in thoughtful production, timeless design, and long-term value.
